The Truth Tigers Unit (Nitharsanam) was praised as one of the most powerful weapons of the Liberation movement in Tamil Eelam, and even across the world. The movement placed a huge emphasis on the documentation of the experiences, genocide, victories and battles from all perspectives. The Truth Tigers, armed with only a camera as their weapon in the battle field, were so selfless and courageous. Their dedication in documenting and archiving the battles against genocide and oppression for future generations is unexplainable. ⁣

In today’s day and age, we as a community are constantly facing challenges of censorship in Eelam, and in the diaspora. The oppressor has worked hard to erase the Eelam Tamils’ history, legacy, and decades of genocide. But the story is ours to tell. Our nation and people’s trauma, resilience and struggle is our story to tell for generations to come. 

Documenting experiences and perspectives within Eelam and in the diaspora is one of many ways to carry on the powerful weapon created by our heroes. Their sacrifices can’t be matched, but this is an attempt at learning and preserving the path they created. ⁣⁣⁣
